The Tech CFO’s Mandate: Unleashing Growth at Mansion House
What a privilege it was to attend the “Growth Unleashed“ event at the magnificent Mansion House this week, the official residence of the Lord Mayor of London! Our very own The Rt Hon. the Lord Mayor Alastair King, hosted this inaugural scale-up showcase with the incredibly ambitious goal of “supercharging investment into the UK’s fast-growing tech start-ups.”
The Lord Mayor’s vision for this showcase was clear: to create a critical platform for accelerating collaboration between the UK’s tech sector and major financial institutions, thereby fostering high-impact opportunities for growth, innovation, and global competitiveness. “We’re sitting on a goldmine of innovation, but we’re watching our gems get polished everywhere,” said the Lord Mayor, who has made tech sector growth a cornerstone of his Growth Unleashed agenda. “The talent is here and the ideas are here, but the capital to scale often isn’t.”
It was genuinely inspiring to witness 21 innovative tech startups pitch their groundbreaking ideas to a room full of venture capitalists and financial institutions. The breadth and depth of innovation on display were truly impressive, ranging from fascinating solar power solutions from space to transformational med-tech in the cardiovascular medicine area. I was particularly impressed by the calibre of the businesses that presented.
